Even in the new year, the hype train for Nintendo Switch 2 hasn’t slowed down. As a result, fresh leaks and reports are still popping up on the internet. Adding to this growling list is yet another rumor based on the upcoming, brand-new hardware from the Japanese gaming giant. However, the latest update might be crucial for fans, given that it’s shedding light on the product’s key features.
Nintendo Switch has been selling well for almost seven years now. The popularity of the device is such that it has sold over 132 million units as of 2023. Maybe that’s the big reason Nintendo hasn’t officially shared any announcement for Switch 2. But a lot of leaked intel and industry insiders have tried to imply that the new hardware is expected to be revealed soon.
Players are expected to get 64 GB of storage with Nintendo Switch 2, claims rumor
A Redditor recently dropped a post on the social platform. The individual known as RojaTop presented a link to a Taiwanese Economic Forum. According to this user, the news platform reportedly revealed early details on Nintendo Switch 2’s storage, RAM capacity, and display refresh rate. Per the rumored information from a translated version of the forum’s report, the Nintendo Switch 2 will have a 120Hz refresh rate in its display. This means players will get to enjoy games at a smooth rate. Plus, the battery life is expected to improve greatly compared to the existing Switch model.
Also, the storage is rumored to be 64 GB for the next hardware. However, what’s concerning about the product is its RAM. The Nintendo Switch 2 is going to have only 8 GB of RAM according to the latest rumor mentioned on Reddit. NVIDIA’s T239 processor, which is in the current Switch, will also be replaced.
Interestingly, the report from the forum also reiterated that the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 might be $400. “In response to the pressure of global inflation and the weak yen, the price of the new product will be unprecedentedly raised. The retail price will be raised from $300 to $400, a 33% increase,” read the report while presenting the reason for its escalated cost.
As per the industry analysts, revealed in the forum’s report, “During the initial launch of Switch, Nintendo’s senior management formulated a core strategy of pricing the console just above cost to quickly penetrate the market, and recovering the profits through game software. This market strategy is indeed quite successful, but as a result many suppliers are under considerable cost pressure. Now as the prices of new generation product rise, the supply chains can breathe a sigh of relief.”
But once again, players will have to take the details from the latest rumor with a grain of salt. Hardcore fans will have to wait unless there comes an official announcement from the Japanese giant.
