Laura Trott shines gold at Olympics' 'Terrific Tuesday'

Laura Trott and Jason Kenny have made 2016 their most memorable year ever: not only will the cyclists marry in September, but they became two of Team GB's most successful Olympians ever after the success of "Terrific Tuesday".

Trott won her fourth gold, in the omnium, making her Britain's most successful female Olympian, while Kenny equalled Sir Chris Joy's six-gold haul by winning the keirin.

Giles Scott won gold in the sailing, while Jack Laugher and Becky James took silver medals in diving and cycling respectively.

Team GB also took bronze in cycling and boxing, and two in gymnastics. Amy Tinkler, 16, who won bronze in the floor event that Simone Biles won, is the youngest Briton ever to win an Olympic medal - she gets her GCSE results next week.

The nine medals take Britain past their equivalent position at London 2012, meaning we are heading for our most successful Olympics ever! (Sorry for jinxing, but what a fortnight.)
