Lizzo Has A Message For People Commenting On Her Body And Her Detox Plan

Lizzo just said exactly what we were thinking: "Do what you want with your body."

YASS.

In a response to critics, the Good As Hell singer posted a semi-naked pic on her Instagram on Tuesday after coming to the end of a 10-day detox.

She had been accused of "submitting to toxic diet culture" after sharing her 10-day transformation with a professional smoothie detox on her social media with users claiming that she was promoting an unhealthy weight loss strategy.

And - not that she ever needed to explain - the musician made it clear that her decision to cleanse went well beyond weight loss in a response to her critics.

"I detoxed my body and I’m still fat," she wrote on Instagram. "I love my body and I’m still fat. I’m beautiful and I’m still fat. These things are not mutually exclusive.

"To the people who look to me, please do not starve yourselves. I did not starve myself. I fed myself greens and water and fruit and protein and sunlight.

"You don’t have to do that to be beautiful or healthy. That was my way. You can do life your way. Remember, despite anything anyone says or does ✨DO WHAT YOU WANT WITH YOUR BODY✨"

We love you, Lizzo.

After getting back from a wild trip to Mexico this December, the body-positive artist followed the professional advice of nutritionist JJ Smith, author of 10 Day Green Smoothie Cleanse, to get her "back to where she was" before the trip.

While sharing her journey on Instagram, she explained that during the trip she drank too much and ate food that had 'f**ked up' her stomach.

Now, after 10 days of feeding herself "greens, water, fruit, protein and sunlight," she says the cleanse improved her "sleep, skin and mental stability," insisting that the intention was never to starve herself.

In a separate post, Lizzo told her followers: "I feel like, as a big girl, people just expect if you are doing something for health, you're doing it for a dramatic weight loss, and that is not the case."

She added: "In reality, November stressed me the fk out, I drank a lot, I ate a lot of spicy things and things that fked my stomach up. And I wanted to reverse it and get back to where I was."

Much like us here at GLAMOUR UK, the Lizzo stans were very much here for her response to the criticism, pointing out that whatever she chooses to do with her body is really none of our business.

One user put it particularly well when she said: "This Lizzo conversation is infuriating because of the entitlement people feel over black women and our bodies. You do not own her. She is free to do what she wants with her body. Leave her alone."
