Say hello to your art teachers today, Mick Manning and Brita Granström. Forget One Direction, boy bands started with The Beatles, four lads from Liverpool, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Star, who went on to become the greatest rock band in history! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Mick and Brita tell the story of the Fab Four in their new book The Beatles which is available from the Guardian bookshop. An exhibition of Mick and Brita's artwork from The Beatles is on now at The University Gallery in Newcastle until 31 October 2014.
You can find out more about Mick and Brita on their website www.mickandbrita.com = they've written a whole bunch of books together and just love to mix words and images in all sorts of inventive and delightful ways. In 2014 they won the English Association Award for the fifth time with Charlie's War Illustrated (a book about Mick's grandfather), and are currently on the short-list for the SLA award with Secrets of Stonehenge.
