Inbetweeners Movie 2 - Release Date, Plot & Photos

Posted by Martina Birk on Monday, July 22, 2024

After a disappointingly short first trailer, the FULL Inbetweeners 2 trailer is here - and it's pretty hilarious.

Showing Jay, Simon, Will and Neil as they travel around Australia, "the sex capital of the world", according to Jay, on a gap year, choice quotes include "You know why they call it Down Under - because that's where you spend most of your time!" and "Muff before mates is considered a crime in Australia".

TV series creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, who are writing and directing the film, said of the new trailer: "We're excited to offer a little taste of what's to come when we release The Inbetweeners 2 on the 6th August. "We're especially happy with the trailer as we think it's funny and - we promise - none of the best jokes are in it. None. We did that so that hopefully you'll still get surprised in the cinema, and enjoy the film even more."

Good news! The Inbetweeners 2 hits cinemas on August 6.

It's here, fwends! The trailer for The Inbetweeners 2 is here- and sadly, it lasts about as long as Will's first time.

The teaser shows Aborigines seated around a campfire - before their evening is ruined by Jay, Simon, Will and Neil delivering a variation on a classic line from the series.

The film hits cinemas on Wednesday 6 August 2014 - we'll keep you posted as soon as a longer trailer arrives.

GET EXCITED, Inbetweeners fans. After waiting longer than Simon waited to make a move on Carly Dimarco, we finally have a release date for the movie.

The Inbetweeners 2 is coming to cinemas Wednesday 6 August 2014 - clever timing considering many of the show's school-age fans will be on summer holiday. As for us, we'll just be feeling INCREDIBLY OLD as we settle down into our cinema seats.

Not much has been released about the film as yet, and although we first thought the four boys will be heading Down Under for some sort of booze-fuelled gap year, rumours have sprung up suggesting they will be in Oz for Neil's stag do - so expect shots, swearing, and some serious shenanigans.

We've got a Monday morning treat for you - the very first snap from The Inbetweeners sequel.

Shooting on the follow-up to the UK's most sucessful comedy film of all time began on December 7 - and we've already been treated to a preview of Jay, Neil, Simon and Will on what we imagine is their 'gap yah' in Australia, in an Ashes-themed press release captioned

"After another week of English embarrassments in Australia here are four more for you".

A new cast member, Harry Potter actor Freddie Stroma (who played Cormac McLaggen in the films) was also confirmed to be joining core cast members Simon Bird, James Buckley, Joe Thomas and Blake Harrison in the sequel this week - Freddie will play a wealthy and handsome man the boys meet on their travels.

'Fwends' of Jay, Will, Simon and Neil, it's time to get excited - The Inbetweeners Movie is definitely happening.

Rumours of a sequel to the 2011 film version of the E4 series (the UK's most successful comedy film of all time) have been bandied about for a while, but the creative team confirmed the news in a message to the film's Facebook fans today (2 August):

"Dearest Facebook fwends - Beebedy beep beep - time for an Inbetweeners sequel update. As promised, you are now the first to know 'officially' that there's a new Inbetweeners movie coming your way next Summer. We can't tell you anything else right at this minute other than that Jay, Will, Simon and Neil are back and it's DEFINITELY happening.

As soon as there's more info, we'll post it here like a sort of online golden easel outside Buckingham Palace. We're all very excited about working together and the film should hit cinemas early August 2014."

We couldn't be more excited to be making another Inbetweeners movie with Simon, Joe, James and Blake. Frankly it's pathetic how much we've all missed each other. A new chapter in the lives of the Inbetweeners feels like the very least we can do to thank the fans for their phenomenal response to the first movie.

After the quartet headed to Malia on a lads holiday for their first film venture, fans have predicted the boys will be heading off on a gap year or travelling in Australia for the sequel - so expect more boozing, sun, sea, (lack of) sex and some serious toilet humour.

The sequel will be shot this year, and released in cinemas across the UK & Ireland early August 2014.

The hapless characters Jay, Neil, Simon and Will are all confirmed for the sequel, although there's no news if Laura Haddock, who played Alison in the film, will return. Haddock recently married The Hunger Games star Sam Claflin.

The Inbetweeners might well be returning to the big screen, following the success of the TV show's 2011 movie.

Blake Harrison, who plays Neil, said that though nothing was confirmed at the moment "there is obviously a passion for it".

"Nothing is confirmed yet. The writers are coming up with ideas and scripts. We haven't seen any of that and we've not signed any deal to do one.

"Everything about a sequel is very much up in the air and it's been that way for quite a long while. So I couldn't tell you one way or another whether it's going to happen," he added.

The actor said he thought the show's dedicated fanbase might be what swings it.

"But if it does happen, it will have to be for the right reasons and because the script is good. People are constantly on my Twitter feed talking about it. People all want to know about a sequel and there is obviously a passion for it and the fanbase is always increasing."

"There is a real passion for it to happen though and it would be nice to give those fans a little thank you with another movie or something else."

The show's co-creator Damon Beesley confirmed in August 2012 that he was bouncing round a few ideas. "I don't want to give too much away at this stage but yes, we have been developing an idea for a sequel," he said. "We miss working with Simon, Joe, James and even Blake too much not to give it a go."

The 2011 movie, which saw the boys go on a lads' holiday to Crete, set a new record for the most successful opening weekend ever achieved by a comedy film in the UK.

The Inbetweeners co-creator Damon Beesley has confirmed that a movie sequel is in the pipeline. Beesley revealed that a follow-up to the 2011 The Inbetweeners Movie is currently in the early stages and will see Joe Thomas, James Buckley, Simon Bird and Blake Harrison return for a second outing. Speaking to a British tabloid, Beesley said: "I don't want to give too much away at this stage but yes, we have been developing an idea for a sequel." "We miss working with Simon, Joe, James and even Blake too much not to give it a go." Co-creator Iain Morris also confirmed Beesley's comment on his Twitter page. When asked if the reports were true, he replied: "Yes, but it's far from signed and like Damon said we want to make sure we have a good enough story to tell." Beesley added that he wanted "to make sure that we can do justice to a follow-up". Meanwhile, the film's four stars will reportedly net £2.5 million each for the project. A source revealed: "The Inbetweeners took off like a rocket, far beyond many expectations... The budget was low and no one got shedloads of money up front, so understandably everyone wants to cash in the second time round." News of a sequel comes just weeks after it was announced that the first film with go on general release in the US on 7 September. SOURCE: DIGITAL SPY
