Two die in light plane crash near Brisbane
Queensland paramedics treated the two people from the plane but they died at the scene
Two men have died in a light plane crash south-west of Brisbane.
Authorities responded to reports of an aviation incident around midday at Bruckner Hill Road, near Boonah, in the Scenic Rim.
The two occupants of the aircraft, men aged 69 and 82, were treated by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics but died at the scene.
Early investigations indicate the plane was returning to Boonah airfield.
Police remained at the scene on Sunday afternoon and were liaising with the men’s families.
“We wish their families every possible amount of support that can be provided to them at this time,” acting inspector Kerry Olsen said in Boonah on Sunday.
Police were appealing for any witnesses with CCTV or dashcam footage of planes flying in the Boonah area to come forward.
Forensic crash unit investigators will work with Recreational Aviation Australia officials to determine the cause of the crash, Queensland police said in a statement.
